Professional members pay for the privilege of listing on our site. The OSBBC does not act as a regulatory body, but rather, as a resource centre for straw bale building in Ontario. Home owners are strongly encouraged to carefully research all tradespeople before hiring. Ask for references, arrange to visit other jobs your professional has worked on.

Deirdre McGahern is a straw bale builder and a designer registered with the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Her business, Straworks, designs and builds small houses and buildings and does bale-carpentry, bale-work, plastering and project management on larger projects. Since 2004, she has designed and built three bale buildings from start to finish and played a major role in the construction of another nine. In 2007 she teamed-up with Jen Feigin, another bale builder, and the dynamic duo will carry on working together in 2008.
